We are on the hunt for a design operations / assistant to join the team! We are currently a small studio, with both designers working from different cities, and we need a driven and energetic individual in Austin to work directly with the owner / lead designer. We are a young company and looking to grow and expand, so being versatile and willing to adapt, learn and change is 100% necessary. The position is flexible and we are very understanding of work/life balance.
*Note: this is not a designer position!!! If you are in a design program or a recent design grad, you will not be happy in this role.
Responsibilities:
Administrative Duties:
- Contracts and invoicing
- General correspondence with clients regarding project details and updates, along with scheduling deliveries and installations
- Scheduling order deliveries and pick up directly with vendors and retailers
- Sample orders / product info requests
- Returns / Exchanges for missing or damaged pieces
- Custom orders and quotes for clients
- Furniture procurement - authorizing payments and managing purchase orders
- Daily order updating and scheduling/coordination with shipping agencies and retailers to ensure on time delivery of furniture
- Field measurements at client’s home / sites
Installation Assistance:
- Picking up local orders at various locations / return of unneeded items post-installation
- Day of coordination / last minute supplies or returns
- Furniture unboxing and assembly / placement of furniture (sometimes very large and heavy pieces)
- Hanging /mounting art, window treatments, ect.
Social Media /Marketing:
- Photo editing in Adobe LightRoom and Photoshop
- Updating website portfolio and client testimonials
- Online add editing (Google/Meta ads) - photos and verbiage
- Social media management
Qualifications
- No design degree required - this is an assistant position, not a design position.
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients and team members
- Strong ability to manage multiple tasks / projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of the Adobe suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
- Knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Revit is a plus
- Knowledge of color schemes, furniture styles, materials, and lighting design principles preferred
- Interest in Interior design or experience working in the design industry
- WILLINGNESS TO LEARN! If you are willing to learn, we are eager to teach you!
- Comfortable / able to use power tools (mainly drills and saws)
