Interior Designer - Custom and Spec Homes

About the Role
We’re looking for a talented and detail-oriented Interior Designer to join our small but growing custom home building team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being involved in multiple stages of the process — from plan design and material selections to final walkthroughs — and who thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

You’ll work directly with homeowners to guide them through the design process, helping to create cohesive, functional, and beautiful interiors & exteriors that align with their vision, budget, and our construction schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with homeowners to develop design concepts, finishes, and color palettes for their custom home.
• Coordinate and manage material and fixture selections — including cabinetry, countertops, lighting, flooring, and plumbing fixtures.
• Prepare and maintain detailed selection sheets and specifications for the construction team and subcontractors.
• Review design details with project managers and trade partners to ensure accurate execution.
• Source materials and samples, manage vendor relationships, and stay current on new design ideas, product availability and lead times.
• Support the team with plan reviews, job site visits, and coordination meetings as needed.
• Maintain project organization and clear communication with both clients and the build team.
• Offer creative, practical solutions that balance aesthetics, budget, and functionality.

Qualifications

• Degree or certification in Interior Design or related field preferred.
• 2–5 years of residential design experience, ideally within a custom home or remodeling environment.
• Strong knowledge of residential materials, finishes, and construction processes.
• Proficiency in design or drafting software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar).
• Excellent organization, communication, and client service skills.
• Self-motivated and comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines.
• A collaborative, can-do attitude and genuine passion for helping clients bring their vision to life.

Compensation is negotiable and depends on qualifications and experience

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
