Interior Designer

About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Interior Designer with strong technical expertise who values intentional work, strong design fundamentals, and meticulous execution. This role works closely with the Principal Designer to support both the creative vision and the day-to-day management of projects.

This position is ideal for a proactive self-starter who is curious, motivated to grow quickly, and excited to contribute meaningfully as the studio continues to evolve. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented and confident balancing design development with the organization and coordination required to move projects forward seamlessly. This role is suited for a designer who appreciates both the artistry and the precision of design and understands that thoughtful documentation and coordination are essential to bringing projects to life seamlessly.

This is a hybrid position based in Marin County. While certain tasks may be completed remotely, the role requires regular in-person participation in site visits, client and vendor meetings and studio responsibilities. The designer must be available to travel locally for project needs, including installations and sourcing appointments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Principal Designer across all project phases, from concept through installation
  • Support creative development while managing multiple projects with clarity and organization
  • Develop and produce comprehensive technical documentation including detailed floor plans, elevations, construction drawings, layouts, schedules, and specifications that ensure design intent is executed
  • Source and specify finishes, fixtures, furnishings, and materials aligned with the BBMD aesthetic, maintaining accurate FF&E schedules
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, trades, and vendors to ensure clear communication and alignment
  • Maintain project workflows including task management, scheduling, and deliverable tracking
  • Prepare and support client presentations, clearly articulating design intent and guiding selections

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of residential interior design experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in Interior Design or a related field preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Asana, Canva and Google Workspace
  • Familiarity with trade vendors, workrooms, and showrooms
  • Invested in thoughtful design and attention to the details that ensure a project is both beautiful and well executed
  • Great client relations and management skills with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset

Compensation & Benefits

  • $75,000–$90,000 annually, based on experience
