Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time, Interior Designer to join our preconstruction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with clients to guide and document all interior and exterior material selections, ensuring alignment across budgets, schedules, and quality expectations. The Interior Designer will report to the head of the design department and work from our office designed to support client meetings and material reviews.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with clients to develop and finalize design concepts.

- Attend client meetings, document discussions, and submit meeting notes.

- Create mood boards, cabinetry layouts, and material schedules.

- Provide layout drawings depicting fixture placement.

- Assist clients in making finish selections that align with project budgets.

- Coordinate with contractors and vendors to obtain cost estimates and ensure timely material procurement.

- Maintain precise records of selections and client approvals. Research and engage with new vendors to expand material options.

- Assist the pre-construction team as needed.

- Flexibility to work varying hours to support our team, projects, and client schedules.

- Assist project managers in writing and pricing materials for change orders.

- Assist with architectural design as needed.

Required Qualifications

- Self-starting, proactive individual who takes initiative and is comfortable handling tasks independently.

- Friendly and approachable, comfortable leading client conversations. Driven to improve processes and enhance client experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Proficiency in design software and cabinetry layout tools.

- Ability to maintain professionalism and build rapport with clients.

- Interpersonal skills capable of maintaining positive relationships with clients, team members, and vendors.

- Problem-solving ability to assess design challenges and craft solutions. Comfortable navigating client feedback, vendor constraints, and site-specific limitations while maintaining design integrity and project timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in residential and commercial construction environments. Knowledge of basic construction principles and materials.

- Familiarity with material budgeting.

- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or 5 years of relevant design experience.

- Familiarity with design software.
