Interior Designer III

This well established, national architecture firm is looking for an Interior Designer III for their team. They are employee owned, run on a hybrid schedule, and have a collaborative company culture. The Interior Designer III is an experienced, mid to senior level design professional responsible for independently executing complex interior design projects from concept through completion. This role combines creative design expertise, technical proficiency, and project leadership. Interior Designer III professionals serve as key contributors to design strategy, client engagement, documentation, and coordination across project teams.

Key Responsibilities



Design & Planning

  • Develops innovative interior design concepts, space plans, and material palettes in alignment with project goals and client vision.
  • Produces high quality drawings, renderings, and presentations using industry standard software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Conducts programming, site assessments, and code analysis to inform design solutions.
  • Selects furnishings, finishes, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), ensuring aesthetic alignment, durability, and compliance with budgets.

Project Leadership

  • Leads mid‑scale interiors projects or interior scopes within large architectural projects with limited supervision.
  • Coordinates design documentation and ensures adherence to project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Oversees junior designers, providing guidance, quality checks, and mentorship.
  • Collaborates closely with architects, engineers, consultants, and vendors to maintain design integrity.

Client Engagement

  • Participates in client meetings, presentations, and design workshops.
  • Interprets and integrates client feedback into design revisions.
  • Supports business development efforts by contributing to proposals and presentations when needed.

Technical & Documentation

  • Produces detailed construction drawings, specifications, and documentation for permitting and construction phases.
  • Ensures compliance with building codes, ADA requirements, sustainability standards, and safety regulations.
  • Reviews shop drawings, material submittals, and on-site work for conformance with design intent.

Qualifications



Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or related field.
  • Typically 5-8 years of professional interior design experience , preferably within commercial, workplace, hospitality, or healthcare sectors.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong design sensibility with ability to develop sophisticated and functional interiors.
  • Proficiency in Revit is typically required; additional expertise in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, or similar tools is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of building systems, construction methods, and project documentation.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with a high level of detail orientation.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • NCIDQ Certification
  • LEED AP or WELL AP is a plus
