ABOUT THIS POSITION
Camden Grace Interior Design is seeking a talented and highly organized Interior Designer with 5+ years of experience to join our growing team. This role requires both strong design execution and the ability to independently manage key aspects of a project.
The Designer will support and collaborate with the team throughout all phases of the design and construction process, including design development, documentation, and project coordination. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with clients, vendors, and trade subcontractors.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to interpret and execute the design direction established by the Principal and Senior Designers, while contributing thoughtfully to the overall vision.
This position is based in our West Hartford, CT office and requires regular in-person collaboration. Candidates must be local and able to commute.
POSITION DETAILS
- Employment Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
- Schedule: Full-Time, approximately 40 hours per week
- Compensation: $32–$40 per hour, commensurate with experience
- Location: West Hartford, CT (primarily in-office with some flexibility for remote work)
- Trial Period: 90-day probationary period to evaluate fit and performance
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in all phases of design projects, including space planning, furniture layouts, development of CAD drawings, renderings, product specification, budgeting, client presentations, and site visits
- Execute design concepts in collaboration with senior leadership, ensuring each project is tailored and elevated to the client
- Produce detailed drawing sets and documentation using CAD/ Sketchup (required)
- Maintain and update finish and fixture schedules to clearly communicate design intent to contractors and subcontractors
- Coordinate directly with clients, vendors, and trade subcontractors to support project execution and timelines
- Manage all aspects of project logistics, including timelines, tracking selections, approvals, and deliverables
- Generate and maintain all client-facing materials, including presentations, drawings, and correspondence
- Collaborate closely with the procurement and administrative team to support ordering and installation processes
- Proactively anticipate project needs, problem-solve, and move projects forward efficiently
- Attend client meetings, site visits, and installations as needed
- Maintain accurate daily time tracking (billable and non-billable)
- Meet or exceed monthly performance and utilization goals
SYSTEM PROFICIENCY
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup, etc. (required)
- Experience with Houzz Pro (preferred)
- Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop)
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- AI tools
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field
- Minimum 5+ years of professional interior design experience in residential and/or commercial projects (residential experience strongly preferred)
- 5+ years of professional AutoCad Experience (Residential and/or Commercial)
- Experience working with other design platforms, such as AutoCad, AI tools, rendering models
- Experience managing multiple projects and timelines simultaneously
- Strong understanding of construction documentation, detailing, and project execution
- Experience working with clients, vendors, and trade subcontractors throughout the full project lifecycle
SKILLS
- Portfolio demonstrating experience across full project scope, including design development, presentations, and construction documentation
- Strong knowledge of high-end residential furnishings, materials, and finishes
- Ability to confidently specify and source products appropriate to project scope and budget
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with clients, vendors, and internal team
- Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Professional, dependable, and responsive
