Intermediate Professional, Quality Assurance

The US Quality team is seeking an Internal Project Auditor to support the execution of WSP’s internal project and process audit program. Reporting to the Internal Project Audit Manager, this role is responsible for conducting audits that assess alignment with WSP procedures and applicable ISO standards across a diverse portfolio of professional services projects.

The Internal Project Auditor plays an important role in strengthening consistency, identifying risk, and supporting continuous improvement across project delivery. This position is well-suited for a detail-oriented professional with audit experience who values structured execution, clear documentation, and constructive engagement with project teams.

  • Conduct internal project audits and process audits in accordance with defined procedures, schedules, and scopes.
  • Evaluate conformance with ISO 9001 and applicable elements of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Review project documentation and records to assess implementation of project quality plans and other project management planning requirements.
  • Document audit observations clearly and objectively, including findings, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support follow-up activities, including corrective action tracking and verification of closeout.
  • Collaborate with the Internal Project Audit Manager and Quality team to identify trends, recurring issues, and systemic improvement opportunities.
  • Engage professionally with project teams to communicate audit objectives, clarify findings, and support understanding of expectations.
  • Maintain accurate audit records and documentation in accordance with established governance and document control requirements.

  • Internal project and process audits are completed on schedule in accordance with approved audit plans, procedures, and scopes.
  • Audit activities are conducted with a judgment-free, professional approach, focused on understanding implementation, identifying gaps, and supporting project teams rather than assigning blame.
  • Audit documentation is accurate, objective, and clearly written, providing balanced, evidence-based observations and conclusions.
  • Audit findings emphasize trends, systemic risks, and improvement opportunities, enabling meaningful, practical follow-up actions.
  • Corrective actions are tracked and verified in a timely manner, with clear communication and effective closeout.
  • Project teams demonstrate understanding of audit results and expectations, supported by clear explanations and constructive dialogue.
  • Recurring issues and portfolio-level trends are identified and escalated to the Internal Project Audit Manager to inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Alignment with ISO 9001 and applicable ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements is consistently assessed and documented.
  • Audit records and evidence are maintained in accordance with governance and document control requirements.
  • The audit process is viewed by project teams as supportive and value-adding, reinforcing a culture of trust, learning, and positive business impact.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of professional experience in quality, audit, or related roles within professional services, engineering, construction, or consulting environments.
  • ISO 9001 audit experience, including participation in internal and/or external audits.
  • ISO certification required (Internal Auditor, Lead Auditor, or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems, audit principles, and risk-based auditing approaches.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review documentation, identify gaps, and assess alignment with requirements.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document findings objectively and professionally.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting audits within professional services or project-based delivery environments.
  • Experience performing project audits and process audits, including evaluation of procedural implementation.
  • ISO-related certifications preferred, including:
    • ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems)
    • ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems)
    • ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems)
  • Experience working within integrated management systems covering Quality, Health & Safety, and Environment.
  • Experience supporting audits in large, matrixed organizations.
