Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions is actively seeking a Summer Intern in Financial Planning and Analysis! The FP&A Intern will support the Finance team in financial planning, forecasting, and management reporting activities within a fast-paced mortgage banking environment.
This role is designed for students seeking hands-on experience in corporate finance, financial analysis, and executive-level reporting. The intern will gain practical exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis while supporting ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives at Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Build and maintain Excel-based financial models related to revenue, expenses, headcount, and profitability
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations for senior management and executive review
- Perform variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecast
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends and performance drivers
- Compile, validate, and reconcile data from multiple internal systems
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Support ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as assigned
- Maintain organized documentation and analytical support in accordance with internal controls

Intern Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
- Completed or currently enrolled in coursework in financial analysis, finance, or accounting
- Very strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling
- Very strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, including creation of executive-ready presentations
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven, in-person office environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in mortgage banking or financial services
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or management reporting concepts
- Familiarity with reporting or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
