INTERN-Financial Planning & Analysis

Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions is actively seeking a Summer Intern in Financial Planning and Analysis! The FP&A Intern will support the Finance team in financial planning, forecasting, and management reporting activities within a fast-paced mortgage banking environment.

This role is designed for students seeking hands-on experience in corporate finance, financial analysis, and executive-level reporting. The intern will gain practical exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis while supporting ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives at Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Build and maintain Excel-based financial models related to revenue, expenses, headcount, and profitability
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for senior management and executive review
  • Perform variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecast
  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends and performance drivers
  • Compile, validate, and reconcile data from multiple internal systems
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Support ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as assigned
  • Maintain organized documentation and analytical support in accordance with internal controls

Intern Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • Completed or currently enrolled in coursework in financial analysis, finance, or accounting
  • Very strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling
  • Very strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, including creation of executive-ready presentations
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven, in-person office environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in mortgage banking or financial services
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or management reporting concepts
  • Familiarity with reporting or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
