Key Responsibilities
DevOps & Automation
- Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for build, test, and deployment.
- Write and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform / CloudFormation / Pulumi.
- Support containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes (or equivalent).
- Automate routine operational tasks using scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.).
Site Reliability (SRE) Foundations
- Help configure monitoring, logging, and alerting (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, Cloud Monitoring).
- Participate in incident response with guidance from senior engineers: triage, escalation, and post-incident reviews.
- Contribute to improving service reliability, availability, and performance through automation and tuning.
- Help track SLIs/SLOs and understand basic error budgets.
Security & DevSecOps
- Follow and enforce secure coding and deployment practices in CI/CD pipelines (e.g., secrets management, least-privilege access).
- Integrate basic security checks into pipelines (SAST/DAST, dependency scanning, container image scanning).
- Assist in handling vulnerability reports and coordinating remediation with development teams.
- Support implementation of identity and access management (IAM), role-based access control (RBAC), and key/secret rotation policies.
Networking & Cloud Infrastructure
- Support setup and maintenance of virtual networks, subnets, routing, and security groups/firewalls in cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Understand and assist with DNS, load balancing, SSL/TLS certificates, and basic troubleshooting (ping, traceroute, etc.).
- Collaborate on designing and maintaining highly available architectures, including auto-scaling and failover strategies.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with developers, QA, SRE, and security teams to enable smooth and secure releases.
- Maintain clear documentation for runbooks, deployment processes, and infrastructure changes.
- Participate in code reviews for infrastructure and pipeline changes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
0–6 months of experience in Cloud Infrastructure or System Administration.
- Basic experience with at least one cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Linux fundamentals and shell usage.
- Git and branching workflows.
- At least one scripting language (Python, Bash, etc.).
- CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Containers (Docker) and basic understanding of Kubernetes or other orchestration tools.
- Understanding of networking basics: IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, load balancers, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Awareness of security fundamentals:
- OWASP Top 10 (at a basic level).
- Principles like least privilege, defense in depth, encryption in transit/at rest.
- Basics of secure secrets management (Vault, cloud secret managers, etc.).
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging concepts and tools.
