Intern/Aide - Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Center
Summary
The Intern/Aide will support research studies within the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center by assisting with key operational and research-related activities. This internship provides hands-on exposure to pediatric hematology/oncology research and offers structured learning opportunities in database and inventory management, chart review, and sample processing. The role is designed to help interns build foundational research, laboratory, administrative, and computer skills while contributing to active research projects in a healthcare research environment.
Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Center offers a paid summer internship program with learning opportunities within the research labs, administration, and psychosocial services. The program fosters the development of learners who have demonstrated an interest in pediatric hematology/oncology (PHO) or pediatric healthcare.
The Intern/Aide will support research studies in the Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Center Center.
Due to the nature of laboratory-based research activities involved in this role, candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
Job Duties
- Assist with database management to support research studies
- Perform inventory management related to research supplies and materials
- Conduct chart reviews in support of ongoing research projects
- Support sample processing according to established research protocols
- Apply learned concepts to assist investigators and research staff with current projects
- Perform general laboratory, computer, and administrative tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrollment undergraduate, or graduate student with an interest in research
- Interest in pediatric hematology/oncology or pediatric healthcare
- Familiarity or interest in research environments and laboratory settings
- Basic computer skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn database, inventory, and research documentation processes
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Work Authorization Requirement:
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment.
