Internal Comms & Marketing Intern

The Student Intern is responsible for gaining exposure to career opportunities within the oil and gas technology industry. This person discovers Schlumberger's role in the industry and the lifestyle associated with the job.

  • Learn about the oil and gas industry.
  • Follow prescribed internship guidelines for each week as closely as possible. Note: While the opportunity for technically-trained professionals is large, these jobs are unique in their scope and responsibility and require a special kind of individual to succeed. The internship will enable the candidate and Schlumberger determine if these requirements are met before committing to a full time job.

Key Responsibilities


Content Creation and Editorial

  • Assist in identifying and developing case studies for news articles that highlight Division technologies, innovation, and operational successes.
  • Draft and edit newsletters, intranet articles, emails, and Viva Engage posts.
  • Support the development of leadership messages, scripts, and internal announcements.
  • Review content from business lines to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with brand guidelines and strategic priorities.
  • Help maintain the Division editorial calendar.


Video and Visual Storytelling

  • Capture photos and short video footage during events, filming sessions, and internal engagements.
  • Edit and produce short-form video content for internal audiences.
  • Create visuals, templates, and graphics aligned with SLB brand guidelines using tools such as PowerPoint and Canva.
  • Design PowerPoint presentations that support visual storytelling in line with SLB brand guidelines.


Digital Platforms and Internal Channels

  • Publish and manage content across myHub, SharePoint, Viva Engage, Workshop, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Support employee engagement campaigns and initiatives.
  • Maintain communications distribution lists and audience targeting to support effective message delivery.
    • Assist with key SharePoint pages and digital content libraries.

  • Analytics and Insights
    • Track engagement metrics across newsletters, the intranet, internal social channels, and LinkedIn.
    • Support communications performance reporting and insights to help improve messaging and reach.

    Collaboration and Event Support
    • Partner with Division leaders, product champions, and technical experts to support communications efforts and internal events.
    • Support planning and execution of internal events, including leadership webcasts and technology showcase sessions (content preparation, communications, and coordination).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Exceptional written, spoken, and editing skills in English.
  • Strong proficiency with PowerPoint, SharePoint, Canva, and video production and editing tools.
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms) to support writing, research, and content development, with strong prompt skills and the judgement to preserve an authentic, human voice.
  • Demonstrates initiative in digital storytelling, corporate communications, and content creation across digital platforms.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Positive, customer-centric approach to supporting stakeholders, with a solutions mindset and focus on delivering win-win outcomes.
  • Keen interest and curiosity about technology, innovation, and energy industry topics.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
