The Internal Medicine Specialist will provide comprehensive medical care for adult patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of complex medical conditions. Preference will be given to candidates with subspecialty experience or training in Oncology or Cardiology. The specialist will play a key role in strengthening Nauru’s internal medicine services, supporting clinical governance, and mentoring local healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide specialist-level inpatient and outpatient care in internal medicine.

Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.

Lead multidisciplinary case discussions and participate in ward rounds.

Develop and implement evidence-based treatment protocols and clinical guidelines.

Support early detection, screening, and management programs for chronic diseases and cancer.

Provide training, supervision, and mentorship to junior doctors, nurses, and allied health staff.

Collaborate with visiting specialists, referral hospitals, and regional health networks.

Participate in on-call duties as required.

Contribute to clinical audits, research, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

Medical degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.

Postgraduate qualification and board certification in Internal Medicine.

Additional training or clinical experience in Cardiology or Oncology preferred.

Current registration and license to practice medicine.

Minimum of 5 years post-specialization experience in hospital or clinical settings.

Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Experience working in resource-limited or remote environments is an advantage.
