This is a direct hire, full-time onsite position based in Arlington, VA (next to Courthouse Metro Station).

Position Overview:

Scan Global Logistics supports Aid, Relief, and Government projects on a global scale, often operating in complex and challenging environments.

SGL is seeking a detail-oriented Freight Forwarder and Administrative person to support our Aid, Relief & Government (ARG) operations. This role is multifaceted for the right candidate and will include coordination of ocean export- and crosstrade shipments as well as the possibility of handling air freight shipments. Part of the position will also include administrative tasks related to billing, reporting etc. Ensuring compliance with regulations and delivering exceptional customer service to meet the unique demands of government and relief logistics is a must.

In addition, this position presents a special opportunity and responsibility to co-develop, shape, and grow the department from its early stages to its full potential. The successful candidate will play a key role not only in daily freight forwarding operations but also in establishing new processes, standards, and practices for a department in development.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and perform ocean export, crosstrade, and air freight operations.
  • Book, trace, and manage shipments from origin, working closely with carriers, brokers, truckers, transloaders, and suppliers.
  • Billing and reporting for key accounts
  • Handle AES filings and ECTN documentation.
  • Prepare and review all required export documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Provide freight quotations to customers when required.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries, special requirements, and shipment updates.
  • Follow up with customers to resolve shipment issues and coordinate pickups/deliveries.
  • Understand and support continuous improvement of department process flows, identifying best practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Escalate issues to management when necessary.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Ocean export or Air freight forwarding experience, preferably with Aid, Relief & Government programs or administrative work.
  • Ability to manage the end-to-end shipment process and coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, with highly organized and structured work methods.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability and flexibility with responsibilities and tasks.
  • Customer Service Focused, Prioritizes excellent service and client satisfaction
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Active listening skills to understand client and partner needs.
  • Language skills: Fluency in Spanish and/or French is a plus
  • Technical proficiency: Experience with transportation management systems as well as MS Office (especially Excel)

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Work authorization/security clearance requirements:

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must pass TSA eligibility screening.

Job Type: Full-time

Work Location: Onsite

Schedule: 8-hour shift (Monday to Friday)

Pay: $28.84 - $31.25 Per Hour
