Internship, Total Rewards (Summer 2026)

What to Expect
Please consider before applying: This position is expected to start May 2026 and continue through the entire Summer term (i.e., through August) or into early Fall 2026 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, for most internships. Please consider before applying.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. Again, please do not apply until you know you can work 40 hours per week. This is required for external applicants. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

We provide an experience that allows for the intern to experience life at Tesla by given them projects that are critical to their team’s success.

Location: Austin, TX

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, analytical, innovative and customer-focused individual to join our dynamic benefits team. The Intern position will be responsible for developing, maintaining and coordinating communications for Total Rewards, coordinating new vendor relationship implementations, support the transition of manual onsite processes to new vendor, assisting with open enrollment preparedness and other project based work as needed.


What You'll Do
  • Coordinate with Total Rewards team members on communications topics for upcoming months to develop a communications timeline, content, and audience

  • Partner with People Content team for communication review and development and final approval, before sending out communications to approved audience

  • Track effectiveness of communication content and styles through monitoring click rates and behavior change with appropriate vendor relationships

  • Monitor internal email and address employee needs with direction from senior staff

  • Develop list of vendors for engagement for employee discounts, working with Global Supply on legal documentation

  • Work with internal staff and vendor partners to transition QMCSOs, VOEs, and Medicare processes

  • Support any SharePoint and HR Chatbot updates in preparation for new policies, procedures, or vendors

  • Constantly evaluate current practices to find better ways get the job done, innovative ways to solve problems, and employ a scrappy/hands-on approach to benefits management


What You'll Bring

  • HR, Benefits, Administration, and Customer Service Experience
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and skills
  • Knowledge of benefit plan administration and management, ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA and IRS regulations
  • Strong, detailed project management, analytical and problem solving skills
