Interventional Cardiologist / Consultant/ Specialist Interventional Cardiologist
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventional cardiology procedures.
- Coronary angiography
- Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) / angioplasty & stenting
- Valvuloplasty (aortic, mitral, pulmonary)
- Emergency interventional procedures (e.g. primary PCI for ST-elevation MI, pericardiocentesis, emergent balloon valvotomy, IABP insertion)
- Oversee / work in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, ensuring its smooth operation, oversight of technical staff, lab safety, and adherence to protocols.
- Manage both inpatient and outpatient cardiology care in the interventional domain: pre-procedure assessment, post-procedure follow-up, emergency care.
- Interpret diagnostic tests & imaging (ECG, echocardiogram, stress tests, Holter, etc.), integrate with patient history to develop treatment plans.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, nursing, catheter lab techs, support staff.
Qualifications & Experience
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) recognized by UAE health authorities.
- Higher specialty qualification in Cardiology + Board / Fellowship certification in Interventional Cardiology.
- Minimum post-certification clinical experience; typical roles ask for 3-5 years or more after interventional fellowship or post board, especially for consultant level.
- Proven track record of performing a variety of interventional procedures, managing complex cases.
- Strong communication skills, teamwork, ability to work under pressure, good decision-making.
Regulatory Standards
- Meet health authority requirements for interventional cardiology services such as staffing, on-call coverage, facility requirements.
- The facility/operator must comply with standards for cath lab operations, equipment, emergency backup (surgical backup for bypass, etc.), safety, documentation.
