Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Inventory Manager to lead our inventory management strategy at [Kidza]. In this strategic role, you will oversee the end-to-end inventory lifecycle, ensuring optimal stock levels and efficient supply chain operations. Your expertise will be crucial in driving data-driven decisions and implementing best practices to enhance inventory accuracy and reduce costs.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management:
  • Maintaining accurate records of inventory levels across multiple locations using (Data Management System) software.
  • Monitoring stock levels and identifying potential shortages or overstocks.
  • Forecasting inventory needs based on sales data, demand patterns, and lead times.
  • Implementing inventory control procedures to minimize losses due to damage, or obsolescence.
  • Conducting regular inventory audits and reconciliations.

Inventory Control:

1. Develop and monitor inventory management systems to ensure accuracy of inventory levels, orders and deliveries.
2. Develop and implement effective inventory control procedures and systems.
3. Monitor stock levels and order supplies as necessary.
4. Monitor and resolve inventory discrepancies.
5. Analyze and report inventory usage and adjustments.
6. Plan and coordinate cycle counts to ensure accuracy of inventory.
7. Analyze and report inventory performance metrics.
8. Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods.
9. Monitor and analyze inventory costs and recommend cost-saving measures.
10. Develop and implement inventory management policies and procedures.

Inventory Manager Duties

· Preparing inventory for shipment to customers

  • Analysing sales data and inventory requirements
  • Maintaining a high level of accountability in the warehouse
  • Setting up local warehousing management systems
  • Providing problem resolution in warehouses
  • Ordering products and inventory to meet business needs
  • Developing database systems to store information about inventory
  • Monitoring safety regulations in the warehouse
  • Maintaining processes resulting in efficient inventory movement through a warehouse distribution centre, especially when operating at maximum capacity
  • Using training courses and tools for improving performance in the warehouse
  • Developing relational database systems to store information about inventory

Education and Experience Required:

· 5+ years of experience in inventory management or supply chain management, with a strong track record of optimizing inventory processes

· Deep understanding of inventory management principles, methodologies, and best practices

· Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems, with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data

· Strong analytical skills, with experience in forecasting and demand planning

· Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Preferred:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, (FMCG) or a related field.
  • Experience working in a warehouse or distribution environment is often required.
  • Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and distribution channels

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Inventory Management Expertise:

Strong understanding of inventory management principles, techniques, and best practices.

  • DMS Software Proficiency:

Experience with Distribution Management Systems (DMS) and other inventory management software.

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop solutions to inventory-related issues.

  • Organizational and Time Management Skills:

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively with team members, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

  • Leadership and Teamwork:

Ability to lead and motivate a team, as well as work effectively as part of a larger team.
