Mission of the Position: The Inventory Manager will manage all aspects of physical inventory including efficient storage, timely and accurate transactions, and overall inventory accuracy across all Mott facilities and outside warehouses. Key responsibilities include overseeing the physical and record-keeping accuracy of inventory, planning and executing inventory counts, reconciling discrepancies, providing training and education regarding inventory management, as well as coordinating with other departments like sales and procurement to support optimal stock levels. The expectation for this position, will be to lead the transition from an annual physical count to a sustainable cycle count program within the first two years.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Design and implement an inventory tracking system for optimized inventory control procedures.
  • Achieve and maintain IDEX targets for cycle count accuracy.
  • Develop Mott cycle count program, achieving certification status from IDEX to drop annual physical inventory within 2 years of hire.
  • Lead inventory count programs in conjunction with Mott finance.
  • Create detailed reports for adjustments, inventory operations and stock levels. Promote to Power BI.
  • Establish inventory KPIs beyond accuracy to drive improvements in inventory optimization and right-sizing.
  • Reduce physical inventory by 20% within the first 2 years, eliminating the need for outside, third party warehousing.
  • Establish an inventory management playbook and standard operating procedures to right-size and maintain inventory levels to business needs and growth.
  • Investigate and implement inventory management best practices throughout Mott.
  • Problem Resolution: Timely response to and resolve complaints or issues related to inventory management to ensure Mott’s flow of goods.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all shipping and receiving procedures comply with health, safety, and labor standards.


Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • Educational Background:
    A bachelor's degree in inventory management, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is typically required. Relevant certifications may also be beneficial.
  • Relevant Experience: Previous experience in inventory management is essential, with a proven track record of managing inventory effectively.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess processes and implement improvements.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with clients, suppliers, and team members.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Continuous Improvement: Expertise using Kaizen, Six Sigma, and other Lean Methodologies is a plus.

Work Environment

  • This key position will be a working manager role embedded within our operating plants and will work across three plants and external warehouses. This role will report directly to the Director of Supply Chain, and will require full-time in office hours.
