Inventory & Pricing Accountant

Role Summary

The Inventory & Pricing Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and commercial control of inventory, product, supplier, pricing, and stock-related data across the business. The role combines accounting discipline with operational stock management, requiring strong analytical ability, attention to detail, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to monitor and maintain large volumes of product and pricing information with minimal errors.

The role supports warehouse operations, procurement, sales, finance, eCommerce, and management reporting through accurate stock control, reporting, and pricing administration.

Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesInventory & Stock Control

  • Process and monitor inventory adjustments within the ERP/WMS systems
  • Investigate stock discrepancies, variances, and unusual inventory movements
  • Monitor stock accuracy across warehouse, cash & carry, and foodservice operations
  • Review stock reports daily, weekly, and monthly
  • Assist in identifying negative stock, duplicate stock entries, and stock anomalies
  • Support stock reconciliation activities between physical and system stock
  • Monitor stock movements, write-offs, damages, shortages, and wastage
  • Assist with stock count preparation and reconciliation processes
  • Analyse inventory trends and stock holding performance
  • Monitor slow-moving, dormant, and fast-moving inventory
  • Support operational teams in resolving inventory-related issues

Product & Supplier Management

  • Manage product onboarding and product setup within ERP systems
  • Maintain and update product master data
  • Configure product settings, categories, units, pack sizes, and attributes
  • Maintain and update product specification sheets and technical product information
  • Link suppliers to products and maintain supplier-product relationships
  • Review and monitor existing supplier data for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist in onboarding new suppliers and maintaining supplier-related records
  • Maintain barcode, SKU, and product coding accuracy
  • Monitor discontinued, replacement, and temporary products

Pricing Management & Commercial Monitoring

  • Maintain and monitor pricing structures across all sales channels
  • Process pricing updates for standard, promotional, custom, and tier pricing
  • Monitor margin performance and pricing accuracy
  • Review product cost changes and update systems accordingly
  • Conduct cost analysis and pricing analysis
  • Assist in identifying pricing inconsistencies, errors, or margin risks
  • Manage promotional pricing setup and removal
  • Re-adjust products back to standard pricing after promotional periods
  • Support sales and management teams with pricing-related queries
  • Monitor pricing compliance across customers and product groups
  • Maintain pricing records and pricing history logs

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly stock and pricing reports
  • Generate product, inventory, pricing, and supplier analysis reports
  • Assist management with ad hoc reporting and analysis requests
  • Analyse stock valuation and inventory-related financial impacts
  • Support reporting for operational and commercial decision-making
  • Produce Excel-based reports, reconciliations, and data summaries
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities through data analysis

WMS, ERP & System Monitoring

  • Monitor Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ERP data accuracy
  • Ensure stock and pricing data is correctly reflected across systems
  • Assist in identifying system issues impacting stock or pricing
  • Support data cleansing and data accuracy initiatives
  • Work closely with IT and operations teams on inventory and pricing improvements
  • Assist with process improvements and operational controls

Website, Retail & Channel Support

  • Manage and monitor products across:
  • Foodservice
  • Cash & Carry
  • eCommerce/Website platforms
  • Ensure product and pricing consistency across all channels
  • Support online product maintenance and updates
  • Monitor promotional visibility and pricing accuracy online

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Strong Excel skills including:
  • Pivot tables
  • VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
  • Data analysis
  • Reporting
  • Good numerical and analytical ability
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience working with ERP/WMS systems
  • Experience with stock, inventory, pricing, or product data management
  • Accounting or finance background preferred
  • Ability to manage large datasets with minimal errors
  • Organised and methodical working style
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
