INVESTIGATOR
PROSECUTING ATTORNEY

Responsibilities: Assists prosecuting attorneys in preparing domestic violence cases for court; conducts follow-up investigation for cases filed by the prosecutors; initiates investigation of crimes reported to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Reviews and investigates domestic violence cases submitted by law enforcement; assists in the development plan for the prosecution of domestic violence cases; interviews witnesses; writes reports; collects and handles evidence; serves subpoenas; prepares diagrams and exhibits for court; photographs crime scenes; assists in jury selection; testifies in court.

Participates in trials; analyzes information gathered by investigation and prepares reports of findings and recommendations; handles and operates a firearm; operates a vehicle.

Briefs and introduces new police officers to office personnel and explains their different roles; maintains ongoing contact with local law enforcement agencies; assists individuals who call or arrive in the officewith a complaint; maintains contact with the defense attorneys for disclosure purposes.

Status: Full time, non-exempt, benefited

Working hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday

Location: Columbia, Missouri

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, and a minimum of three years law enforcement and investigations experience. Excellent writing abilities and computer skills. Must be Missouri Peace Officer Certification (POST) certified. Clear criminal record (excluding minor traffic violations).

Starting Hourly Pay Rate: $27.42 - $28.25 per hour
