WhatsApp Integrity Investigations’ focus is on protecting our users by detecting and investigating emerging threats and risks, and mitigating harm through close collaborations with cross-functional partners. We are looking for an investigator passionate about solving complex problems, proactive in ambiguous environments, and advocates for WhatsApp’s community. The candidate will be responsible for helping WhatsApp discover, understand and mitigate emerging threats and associated risks that may impact our users and the integrity of our platform. The potential for impact with this work is substantial as outcomes could affect billions of people who use our products. Investigators will have the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging, and complicated harms the company is facing, especially in an end-to-end encrypted environment. The ideal candidate will have a multidisciplinary investigative and analytical background and the ability to identify threats and make risk-based recommendations. It is highly important that candidates are focused on results and are self-starters. This role supports critical Company priorities, and would suit candidates who thrive in ambiguity and often high-demand environments.
- Lead the integration of Generative AI and LLMs into the investigative workflow to innovate investigations, triaging, summarization, and network mapping of complex threats

Work closely with Legal, Policy, Engineering, and Operations teams to resolve cases and improve processes

Participate in rapid response efforts during major incidents or crises

Provide proactive and clear communication to leadership, stakeholders and other internal teams on investigative findings and how these can apply to Product and other areas

Proactively identify gaps - in current detection and enforcement - and identify new attack trends via multiple internal and external signals

Partner with Engineering and Data Science to develop high-precision, AI-driven enforcement mechanisms that mitigate harm with minimal false positives

Conduct in-depth, complex, and sensitive investigations into emerging integrity threats, spanning various risk areas (e.g., adversarial abuse, scams, safety, platform misuse)

Maintain comprehensive case documentation and reporting to articulate complex investigative findings, methodologies, and actionable insights to leadership

Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience

8+ years of experience conducting threat and risk-focused investigations, particularly in Trust and Safety, Integrity, and/or Fraud and Scam spaces

Experience with pattern, network and behavioral analysis

Experience prioritizing investigative requests, managing competing priorities, and working in a high-tempo environment

Experience presenting investigative and/or analytical findings to influence cross-functional teams and projects toward mitigations and solutions

Experience leveraging AI to enhance and run investigative analyses

Understanding and interest in global geopolitical and social issues

Experience working with or for an Internet-based or technology company
