Investment Risk Reporting - Analyst

The role is responsible for providing independent, day-to-day oversight of investment, market, credit, and liquidity risks across mutual fund schemes. The position integrates risk analytics with performance and attribution analysis to ensure portfolios remain aligned with scheme mandates, regulatory requirements, and internal risk policies. The role holder works closely with the Investment team and other stakeholders, while maintaining independence of judgement, strong governance standards, and effective risk challenge.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Risk Monitoring:
  • Perform detailed portfolio risk analysis and monitor portfolio performance across equity and fixed-income schemes.
  • Identify and proactively manage emerging risks arising from macroeconomic developments, market conditions, and regulatory changes.
  • Monitor interest rate, spread, and concentration risks, including tracking of duration, modified duration, convexity, key rate duration, and scenario/stress-testing outcomes.
  • Review portfolio positioning versus benchmarks and mandated objectives; assess drawdowns and volatility.
  • Generate risk insights on portfolios arising from rate movements, yield-curve shifts, and macroeconomic events.
  • Monitor equity risk metrics including portfolio beta, tracking error, active share, and factor exposures relative to benchmarks.
  • Track sector, style, and market-capitalisation concentrations, top holdings, and single-name exposure limits.
  • Review performance attribution analysis including allocation and stock-selection effects and evaluate whether outperformance or underperformance is commensurate with the level of risk undertaken.
  • Compute and monitor regulatory liquidity ratios across applicable schemes in line with internal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Assess liquidity risks under normal and stressed market conditions and escalate concerns where required.
  • Ensure adherence to Risk Management Framework, and work as a credible second line defence to business teams for risk related matters
Governance, Reporting & Controls:
  • Prepare risk dashboards, breach reports, exception summaries, and stress-testing outputs for Senior Management and governance committees.
  • Ensure ongoing adherence to SEBI (Mutual Funds) Regulations, AMFI Best Practices, and internal risk policies.
  • Review risk policies, frameworks, and methodologies periodically and always ensure consistent compliance.
  • Ensure timely reporting of identified risks and outliers the notice to his/her manager and to CEO / CRO
  • Own and drive strong risk conscious culture across the firm and, specifically across your department and functional area.
Process Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Drive continuous process-improvement initiatives within the Risk Management function, with a focus on automation, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Work closely with Investment, Compliance, Operations, and Technology teams to ensure robust and compliant risk identification, monitoring, mitigation, and reporting processes.
Skills Required:
  • Strong analytical capability with excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage effectively with senior management.
  • Sound understanding of equity and fixed-income risks and their interaction with domestic and global macroeconomic factors.
  • Strong appreciation of market structures, business drivers, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to reduce manual intervention in risk processes and build effective control checks and exception-management mechanisms.
  • High degree of ownership, attention to detail, and strong adherence to timelines.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across cross-functional teams.
Qualifications & Technical Knowledge:
  • Professional qualification such as CA, CFA, FRM, or MBA (Finance) preferred.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in Asset Management, Bank Treasury, or Risk Consulting, with exposure to both equity and fixed-income risk.
  • Comfortable working with risk systems (e.g., Aladdin, Barra, Factset and internal tools), Bloomberg, and market-data platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Power Query, Pivot Tables, data modelling, and complex formula-based risk computations.
  • Practical exposure to VBA / macro-based automation for automating risk reports and controls.
  • Value-add skills: familiarity with Python for analytics and Power BI dashboards.
Work Shift Timings - 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM IST
