IP Billing Staff

Job Summary

The IP Billing Staff is responsible for accurate and timely billing of in-patient (IP) services in a hospital environment. This role ensures correct billing of medical procedures, room charges, investigations, pharmacy, and consumables, while coordinating with clinical departments, insurance teams, and patients to ensure compliance with hospital policies and insurance guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and process in-patient bills based on treatment records, doctor orders, and discharge summaries.
• Verify and post charges for room rent, procedures, investigations, pharmacy, implants, and other services.
• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, pharmacy, diagnostics, and wards to ensure accurate charge capture.
• Handle insurance and TPA-related billing, including pre-authorizations, estimates, and final claims.
• Ensure compliance with hospital billing policies, insurance agreements, and regulatory requirements.
• Review bills for accuracy and resolve discrepancies before finalization.
• Generate interim and final bills and explain charges to patients or attendants when required.

• Assist with audits, MIS reports, and billing reconciliations.
• Coordinate with the accounts team for collections, refunds, and adjustments.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Hospital Administration, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in hospital IP billing or healthcare billing (preferred).
• Knowledge of in-patient billing processes, insurance/TPA procedures, and medical terminology.
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Good communication skills and ability to interact with patients and clinical staff.
• Ability to handle confidential patient information in compliance with hospital policies.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with cashless insurance claims and corporate billing.
• Knowledge of NABH / JCI billing standards
• Experience in multi-specialty hospital environments.
