Job Summary
The Coupa P2P Solution Architect is responsible for the end‑to‑end architectural design, governance, and strategic evolution of Carlisle's Coupa Procure‑to‑Pay (P2P) ecosystem. This role serves as the design authority for Coupa and its integrations (primarily SAP ECC via SAP BTP), ensuring scalable, secure, and compliant solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards and long‑term business strategy.
The Solution Architect partners with Procurement, Finance, Accounts Payable, Internal Audit, and IT leadership to translate business capabilities into future‑state solution architectures, establish architectural standards, and guide delivery teams through complex initiatives. While maintaining awareness of operational health, this role is architecture‑led rather than administrator‑led.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Architecture & Design Authority
- Own the solution architecture for the Coupa P2P platform, including Procure‑to‑Pay, Invoicing, Supplier Management, and related modules.
- Define and maintain current‑state and future‑state architecture diagrams, integration patterns, and data flows for Coupa and adjacent systems.
- Serve as the final design authority for Coupa‑related enhancements, integrations, and configuration decisions.
- Establish architectural principles and standards governing workflows, approvals, master data, integrations, and security models.
- Integration & Platform Strategy
Architect and govern Coupa
- SAP integrations leveraging SAP BTP Integration Suite (CPI) including IDocs, APIs, cXML, and file‑based integrations (SFTP).
- Design resilient, scalable integration patterns that support global growth, acquisitions, and evolving business models.
- Evaluate platform capabilities and roadmap features to recommend architectural improvements and simplification opportunities.
- Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Design and enforce role‑based access control (RBAC), segregation of duties (SoD), and privileged access models aligned with SOX and audit requirements.
- Partner with Internal Audit, Compliance, and Security teams to ensure architectural controls are embedded by design.
- Establish and lead architectural review processes for integrations and Coupa changes, ensuring alignment with clean core principles and minimizing custom development.
- Strategic Partnership & Leadership
- Lead fit/gap workshops and architectural design sessions with business and IT stakeholders.
- Translate business strategy into capability‑driven solution designs and multi‑year roadmaps.
- Provide architectural guidance and oversight to administrators, analysts, system integrators, and project teams.
- Influence and align with Enterprise Architecture standards and broader IT modernization initiatives.
- Delivery Oversight
- Provide hands-on guidance in integration design, to include reviewing mappings, error handling strategies, and message structures to ensure successful execution.
- Ensure architectural intent is preserved throughout implementation without acting as day‑to‑day system administrator.
- Expectation to understand, participate in, and support company COS initiatives, with focus on developing a lean mindset.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Deep expertise in Procure‑to‑Pay architecture, including procurement, invoicing, approvals, supplier enablement, and financial controls.
- Demonstrated experience designing enterprise application architectures and complex ERP integrations.
- Strong understanding of integration platforms and patterns (SAP BTP/CPI, APIs, event‑driven design, SFTP, cXML).
- Ability to balance business requirements with architectural integrity, scalability, and risk management.
- Executive‑level communication skills with the ability to present architectural options and trade‑offs.
- Strong influence without direct authority; comfortable operating in a matrixed enterprise environment.
Education and Experience:
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in enterprise systems, application architecture, or solution design roles.
- 3+ years of experience designing or governing Procure‑to‑Pay or ERP‑adjacent solutions (Coupa, SAP, Ariba, Oracle, or similar).
- Preferred:
- Experience serving as a Solution Architect or Enterprise Application Architect.
- Coupa Certified Professional or equivalent ERP architecture credentials.
- Experience in a publicly traded or SOX‑regulated environment
Working Conditions:
This is a fully remote professional position. The incumbent is expected to maintain a dedicated, secure, and ergonomically appropriate home office environment with reliable high-speed internet connectivity. The role requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining regular communication with colleagues and stakeholders via virtual collaboration tools.
The position typically operates during standard business hours (ET) of Monday – Friday (8am – 5pm), with flexibility required to accommodate meetings across time zones or critical business needs performed after hours or on weekends. The employee is expected to comply with all company policies related to data security, confidentiality, and remote work standards.
Travel will be required for team meetings, trainings, or company events, with the expectation of travelling to either Kimberton, PA or Carlisle, PA 1-2 times per month.
