IT Business Intellligence Developer

Primary Function
The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer designs, develops, and supports modern analytics solutions that enable data driven decision making across the organization. This role partners with business and IT stakeholders to transform enterprise data into trusted, scalable, and actionable insights using modern cloud data platforms, BI tools, and visualization technologies. The BI Developer advances governed self service analytics while ensuring alignment with enterprise data governance and business strategy.
Essential Duties
Design and deliver BI solutions
  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical models using BI tools based on business and enterprise requirements
  • Apply data visualization and dashboard design best practices to ensure usability, performance, and scalability
Partner with stakeholders and define analytics requirements
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, and analytical needs supporting operational and strategic decision-making
  • Translate business requirements into effective and sustainable analytics solutions
Develop and manage data models and integrations
  • Build and maintain semantic data models, measures, and calculations using best practices such as star schema design and optimization techniques
  • Integrate data from multiple enterprise and external sources and collaborate with data engineering teams on data ingestion and transformation processes
Ensure governance, quality, and self-service enablement
  • Establish and enforce BI standards, data governance practices, and documentation for dashboards, models, and reporting assets
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, security, and performance across analytics solutions through testing, validation, and monitoring
  • Develop reusable datasets, certified models, and standardized reporting assets to enable self-service analytics
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to users while driving continuous improvement of BI practices and workflows
Minimum Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Data Analytics, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and direct relevant professional experience.
Work Experience
  • 4-6+ year’s experience in business intelligence analytics, or data visualization roles.
  • Hands-on experience with modern BI platforms (e.g., Power BI), including data modeling and dashboard/report design.
  • Experience working with modern analytics ecosystems such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or similar platforms.
  • Strong experience designing analytical data models (fact/dimension schemas, measures, KPIs).
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, cloud data warehouses, modern analytics services).
  • Significant experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Report Builder.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server Database Engine, including writing complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
Physical
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
Other
  • Proficient in SQL, DAX, PowerShell, and relational database concepts.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and broader Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines in high-pressure environments.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to quickly learn and apply business knowledge.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
