About the role
As an IT Field Service Technician, you will make an impact by supporting manufacturing and warehouse operations, ensuring shop floor systems remain reliable, secure, and efficient. This role blends hands-on support with continuous improvement, helping reduce downtime, strengthen standardization, and support technology integrations that directly impact production and user experience. You will be a valued member of the Cloud Infrastructure and Security team and work collaboratively with the Manager.

In this role, you will:
  • Provide advanced, hands-on technical support at a 3rd level across end-user and manufacturing environments, exceeding SLA metrics.
  • Demonstrate independent troubleshooting and decisive problem solving for highly complex environments, including shop floor systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis to eliminate recurring incidents and implement long-term preventive solutions.
  • Support shop floor technologies including PLC-connected devices, handheld scanners, label/laser/multifunction printers, and workstations.
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software aligned with enterprise standards and project requirements.
  • Provide immediate technical support for high-complexity environments after business hours, as necessary, to maintain production continuity.
  • Support infrastructure components including network, server, and end-user systems.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on project initiatives, M&A integrations, and system improvements.
  • Vet and define proposed shop floor processes in compliance with Networking and Security policies and standards.
  • Follow and promote defined ITIL practices across incident, problem, and change management.
  • Participate in the creation and reinforcement of Field Services standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts including labor/cost reduction, security, reliability, standardization, and key feature integrations.
  • Support enterprise initiatives such as the Windows 11 migration project.
  • Perform other assigned operational duties.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Carmel, IN.

What you need to have to be considered:
  • 4+ years of experience supporting manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments with a strong understanding of shop floor IT systems.
  • High-level knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10/11, macOS (Apple OSX), and Linux (Ubuntu).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Office, Teams, Point, Visio) and legacy Microsoft Office Suites (2007–2016).
  • Experience supporting mobile platforms including Apple iOS, Android, and Windows CE.
  • Hands-on experience with PC hardware troubleshooting, serial-based technologies (PLCs, scanners), and handheld scanners.
  • Experience supporting label, laser, and multifunction printing.
  • Familiarity with network, server, telephony technologies, and basic Audio-Visual (AV) support.
  • Strong root cause analysis skills with exposure to process improvement, risk reduction, security controls, and change management.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; able to explain complex technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and operate independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in cross-functional and virtual team environments.
  • Broad technical IT knowledge and awareness of industry trends.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Network+ certification or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing system integrations or M&A environments.
  • Exposure to enterprise IT architecture and a broad range of business applications.
  • Experience with large-scale deployments or OS migrations such as Windows 11.
  • Knowledge of IT security standards specific to manufacturing environments.
