IT Infrastructure & SAP Basis Manager

The Manager of IT Infrastructure & SAP Basis leads the design, reliability, security, and performance of the organization's technology environment, including on‑premise and cloud infrastructure, enterprise networks, and SAP Basis operations. This role oversees a multidisciplinary technical team responsible for delivering stable operations, modernizing core platforms, and supporting mission‑critical SAP and non‑SAP systems.

Core Responsibilities

IT Infrastructure Leadership

  • Direct daily operations across servers, storage, virtualization, cloud platforms, and data center environments.
  • Develop and execute infrastructure roadmaps aligned with business strategy, cybersecurity requirements, and scalability needs.
  • Oversee high‑availability architectures, backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity readiness.
  • Implement monitoring, observability, and automation tools to improve reliability and reduce manual effort.
  • Manage vendor relationships, licensing, support contracts, and technology procurement.

Network Architecture & Operations

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD‑WAN, VPN, and firewall environments.
  • Ensure network performance, reliability, and scalability through proactive capacity planning, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Lead the evaluation and deployment of new network technologies, including next‑generation firewalls, network segmentation, and cloud‑integrated networking.
  • Maintain routing and switching environments, ensuring efficient traffic flow, redundancy, and fault tolerance.

Network Security & Compliance

  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to enforce network security standards, including segmentation, access control, intrusion detection/prevention, and zero‑trust principles.
  • Oversee firewall rule governance, VPN access policies, and secure connectivity for remote and hybrid workforces.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, and security frameworks through documentation, testing, and continuous improvement.

Network Monitoring & Incident Response

  • Implement and maintain network monitoring tools for real‑time visibility into performance, availability, and security events.
  • Lead incident response for network‑related outages, degradations, or security events, ensuring rapid root‑cause analysis and long‑term remediation.
  • Establish and maintain network documentation, topology diagrams, runbooks, and operational standards.

SAP Basis Administration

  • Lead SAP Basis operations team, including system installations, upgrades, patches, kernel updates, and performance tuning.
  • Oversee transport management, environment refreshes, client strategy, and landscape governance across ECC, BW, Solution Manager, and related components.
  • Ensure SAP systems meet performance, security, and availability standards through proactive monitoring and capacity planning.
  • Partner with application teams to support integrations, custom development, and change management.

Cloud & Hybrid Connectivity

  • Manage connectivity between on‑premise systems and cloud platforms (Azure)
  • Support Azure cloud or hybrid deployments by ensuring secure, high‑performance network paths for application, database, and integration layers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure operations, including server, network, and cloud
  • Strong background in network engineering, including routing/switching, firewalls, wireless, SD‑WAN, and cloud networking.
  • Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, or similar enterprise‑grade network platforms.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization, cloud platforms, storage systems, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • 3+ years of SAP Basis experience or managing SAP environments is a plus.
  • Leadership experience managing cross‑functional technical teams.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and problem‑solving skills.

Work Environment:

  • Normal office environment and office lighting
  • Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting
