IT Infrastructure & Server Administrator

India

PSGR Krishnammal College for Women invites applications from dynamic and technically proficient professionals for the position of IT Infrastructure & Server Administrator.

The incumbent will be responsible for managing and optimizing the college’s end-to-end digital infrastructure, including on-premise and cloud-based servers, Docker environments, database systems, and web hosting platforms. The role demands in-depth expertise in .NET technologies, SQL Server, AWS, and Linux administration to ensure seamless performance, uptime, and scalability of institutional digital systems.

This position plays a vital role in advancing the college’s digital transformation initiatives, enhancing system reliability, and supporting technology-enabled academic and administrative operations.

Key Responsibilities

a) Server Deployment & Configuration: Manage end-to-end setup, version control, updates, and performance tuning of all institutional servers.

b) Database Administration: Administer MS SQL Server databases including performance tuning, backup, restoration, and data integrity management.

c) Web Server Management: Configure and manage IIS, Apache, and Nginx servers for hosting institutional websites and .NET applications.

d) Website & Application Management: Oversee website hosting, content deployment, backend integration, and routine maintenance.

e) Server Load & Traffic Optimization: Implement caching, CDN, and load-balancing strategies to improve website performance and user experience.

f) Linux Administration: Configure and maintain Linux environments (Ubuntu/CentOS), execute shell scripting, and ensure secure configurations.

g) Backup & Disaster Recovery: Develop and execute robust backup strategies, test restoration processes, and implement disaster recovery protocols.

h) Security & Compliance: Enforce IT security standards, manage SSL certificates, firewalls, and data access controls, and ensure policy compliance.

i) Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track system performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and prepare technical documentation and reports.

j) ERP and Application Support: Provide backend support for academic ERP, LMS, and digital content management systems in coordination with development teams.

Institutional IT Environment

The college maintains a comprehensive and integrated digital ecosystem that supports academic, research, and administrative functions. This includes ERP systems, institutional websites, e-learning platforms, cloud-based services, and networked infrastructure connecting departments and hostels.

The incumbent will play a key role in ensuring the security, scalability, and reliability of this multi-domain infrastructure, in alignment with the institution’s vision for digital excellence and operational efficiency.

Technical Expertise

  • Technologies: .NET Framework, Docker, Git, Jenkins, AWS, IIS, Apache, Nginx, SQL Server
  • Operating Systems: Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS), Windows Server
  • Networking & Security: DNS, SSL, Firewall, VPN, Proxy, CDN, IP Configuration, Port Management
  • Automation & Monitoring: CI/CD pipelines, CloudWatch, Zabbix, Nagios (or equivalent tools)
  • Additional Skills: DNS propagation, domain management, backup scripting, load testing, and server resource optimization

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Computer Science / B. E / B. Tech or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (Mandatory)

  • 7–10 years of proven experience in Server / Systems Administration or DevOps roles
  • Preferred Certifications:
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator / Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate / Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
