The IT Manager is responsible for overseeing the school's technology infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure access to digital tools for students, teachers, and staff. This role combines strategic planning, technical support, and operational management to maintain a robust, safe, and modern learning environment for a mid-sized school of around 500 students.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. School ERP Implementation & Oversight
· Lead the end-to-end implementation of the school’s ERP system: needs assessment, planning, configuration, rollout, training, and support.
· Liaise with ERP vendors to ensure delivery on technical and functional requirements.
· Facilitate data migration, integration with existing systems, and user acceptance testing.
· Organize and conduct ERP training programs for faculty, staff, students, and parents.
· Act as primary support and troubleshooting contact for all ERP-related matters.
2. IT Infrastructure Management
· Ensure optimal performance, security, and uptime of all hardware (PCs, servers, smart boards, projectors, tablets, etc.).
· Oversee procurement, inventory, installation, maintenance, and upgrade scheduling for all technology assets.
· Supervise networking infrastructure (LAN/WAN/WiFi); troubleshoot connectivity issues and oversee Internet service provider relationships.
· Develop and maintain documentation for all critical IT systems and procedures.
3. Software & Resource Management
· Manage deployment, licensing, and updates of productivity, learning management, and specialized educational software.
· Ensure compatibility and interoperability across different platforms and user groups.
· Monitor software use and compliance with licensing agreements.
· Stay updated on emerging educational technologies; propose new tools as appropriate.
4. Cyber Security & AI Policy
· Draft, implement, and enforce school-wide Cyber Security Policy, ensuring compliance with national and international regulations (FERPA, GDPR, IT Act, etc.).
· Develop AI Usage Policy—outlining permitted tools, privacy considerations, and ethical guidelines for AI in teaching, learning, and administration.
· Oversee cyber risk assessments, vulnerability testing, and incident response plans.
· Educate the school community on best practices regarding digital safety, password management, phishing, and data protection.
· Coordinate regular cyber security drills and awareness sessions.
5. Budgeting & Compliance
· Collaborate with IT Committee Convenors in the preparation, administration, and monitoring of the annual IT budget.
· Prepare detailed cost/benefit analysis for new investments.
· Monitor IT expenditures, ensure compliance with budgetary frameworks; report to management on budget status and recommendations.
6. Team Management & External Coordination
· Supervise IT support staff; schedule and delegate daily/weekly tasks and support issues.
· Liaise with external vendors, consultants, service providers, and government bodies as required.
· Stay abreast of technology trends and best practices in educational IT management.
7. Reporting
· Prepare regular reports for the School Management and IT Committee on IT systems health, ERP usage, cyber security status, and budget utilization.
· Maintain accurate asset and compliance records.
