IT Support Intern (Summer 2026)

About Sterling's 2026 Summer Internship Program:
The Sterling Summer Intern Program is a paid 11-week program from June 1 – August 14, 2026. Sterling interns are provided hands-on work experience building upon knowledge and skills learned in the classroom. Interns work side-by-side industry leaders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment who are passionate about being part of a team developing life-saving drugs around the world. Throughout the 11-week program, interns will work on defined individual projects to learn about GMP fundamentals and techniques from Sterling professionals. The program concludes with individual presentations to Sterling leaders.

Summary of Role:
Sterling is seeking a highly motivated IT (Information Technology) Support Intern, who will be accountable for standardizing IT documentation by creating knowledge base articles both to automate service to the user and to formalize documentation for IT.

The IT Support Intern will be a first line IT support by triaging and assigning tickets to the internal IT team and categorizing appropriately. This categorization will provide initial data gathering for the support ticket and then escalate to 2nd line or System Administrators. The IT intern will work closely with our Onsite Systems Administrator to provide cable management in the server rooms, providing support to remove unused equipment and help ease identification of ports if issues arise. In addition, the intern will take on the project of decommissioning older equipment (desktops/servers) including archiving and erasing of Hard drives when appropriate. The position will also assist with the imaging, and deployment of user laptops, and lab workstations as needed. The position requires behaviors of the Sterling core competencies and non-negotiables, as well as expertise in functional competencies included in this position profile.

Requirements for the Role:
  • Enrolled in a 4-year college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in IT Management, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Project and Visio a plus
  • Basic understanding of networking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills required.
  • Excellent detail orientation and organizational skills required.
  • Excellent problem-solving and basic trouble-shooting ability required.

This position is located in Germantown, WI, a vibrant city northwest of Milwaukee in Southeast Wisconsin. A great place to live, work and raise a family, Southeast Wisconsin offers a variety of activities and diverse cultural scene.

What to Expect for an Interview
Candidates who are invited to interview will be contacted by Sterling Human Resources to get a 30-minute phone or Webex interview set up with the hiring manager. During the interview you will be asked questions about your scientific and technical knowledge as well as behavioral-based questions.
