Job Overview:

The IT Support Officer is responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, software, and network infrastructure for users within the organisation. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving IT-related issues, maintaining system functionality, managing network connectivity, and ensuring the efficient operation of all technology services. The IT Support Officer will work closely with both internal users and other IT team members to provide excellent service, maintain a secure and efficient network, and resolve technical problems quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

_ User Support:_

● Provide first-line technical support to staff and end-users via phone, email, or in-person.

● Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues for employees, ensuring that connectivity and access to network resources are maintained.

● Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, network hardware (routers, switches, wireless access points), and other devices.

● Assist with user account management, including setup, password resets, permissions, and ensuring secure network access for all users.

● Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity issues, including LAN and Wi-Fi connections, and escalate issues as needed.

System Maintenance & Network Infrastructure:

● Regularly monitor system performance and ensure the proper functionality of all systems, including network components such as servers, switches, firewalls, and access points.

● Perform routine checks on network infrastructure to ensure proper configuration and security.

● Collaborate with the IT team to ensure network uptime and performance meet organisational needs.

● Assist with network security tasks, such as managing firewalls, ensuring VPN connectivity, and applying security patches to network equipment.

Network Support & Troubleshooting:

● Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues, including IP conflicts, DNS issues, VPN connectivity, and performance-related concerns.

● Ensure proper network configuration and connectivity for remote employees or multiple departments within the organisation.

● Perform basic network setup and configuration for new workstations, ensuring secure connections to the hospital’s network.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

● Strong experience with network troubleshooting, including LAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN.

Familiarity with network infrastructure, such as routers, switches, access points, and firewalls.

● Experience with EMR systems and healthcare software.

● Proficiency in managing Google Workspace (account creation, deletion, troubleshooting).

● Knowledge of troubleshooting network hardware (routers, switches, wireless devices), computer hardware, and software issues.

● Basic knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, VPNs, and encryption methods.

Experience:

Previous experience in an IT support role, preferably in a healthcare environment (1–3 years preferred).
