IT Support Specialist

About HAPPI Health

HAPPI Health is a community health center serving more than 13,000 patients across Madison and Morgan County. We believe that quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege — and every member of our team plays a role in making that real for the communities we serve.

We're looking for an IT Support Specialist who wants their technical skills to matter. This isn't a faceless corporate IT department — you'll see the direct impact of your work every day, and you'll be genuinely valued as part of a mission-driven team.

The Role

This is a hands-on, solo IT position that's as varied as it is rewarding. You'll be the primary technology resource for HAPPI Health, supporting our clinical and administrative teams across multiple locations. That means help desk support, Microsoft 365 administration, hardware maintenance, and everything in between — all in service of 65+ devices and the staff who depend on them to care for our patients.

If you're a problem-solver who thrives on variety and wants to do meaningful work — this is the role for you.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all IT support requests across the organization (in-person, phone, and ticketing system)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues — desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, and clinical devices across a 65+ device environment
  • Support and administer Microsoft 365 — including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and user account management
  • Install, configure, and maintain software applications, ensuring systems are up to date and secure
  • Set up and image new workstations; assist with onboarding of new staff
  • Maintain basic network and connectivity troubleshooting (Wi-Fi, VPN, switches)
  • Document issues, solutions, and IT procedures to build our internal knowledge base
  • Liaise with vendors and managed service providers when escalation is needed
  • Support HIPAA compliance requirements as they relate to technology and data security

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in an IT support, help desk, or desktop technician role
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (admin experience a plus)
  • Hands-on experience with Windows hardware — troubleshooting, repair, and configuration
  • Working knowledge of firewalls, network security, and infrastructure basics, with the ability to help evaluate, recommend, and manage technology equipment needs as HAPPI Health grows across new sites and service areas
  • Familiarity with software installation, updates, and basic network troubleshooting
  • Strong communication skills — you can explain tech to non-tech people clearly and patiently
  • A self-starter mindset with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple requests independently

Preferred (but not required):

  • Experience in a healthcare or nonprofit environment
  • Familiarity with HIPAA or healthcare IT compliance
  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or Microsoft certifications
  • Experience with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system

What We Offer

  • Salary: $48,000 – $62,000 commensurate with experience
  • Comprehensive benefits — medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Flexible scheduling — we understand that work-life balance matters
  • Meaningful work — your IT skills directly support the health of your neighbors and community
  • A collaborative, supportive team culture where your contributions are noticed and valued
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth as the organization evolves

HAPPI Health is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.
