Description:

Why Join Marshall + Sterling?

As a 100% employee-owned company with roots dating back to 1864, Marshall + Sterling offers the strength of a time-tested organization and the energy of an ownership-driven culture. Guided by our mission to empower clients to predict, prepare for, and preempt risk, we are relentlessly focused on helping people and businesses protect what matters most — so they can move forward with confidence. Our vision of creating a future that’s safer and more secure drives everything we do.

Innovation is not optional here — it's imperative. We constantly seek better, smarter ways to serve our clients and improve as a company. Collaboration is at our core, because we know we are stronger together — across teams, with our clients, and in the communities we serve. Our employee-owners are not only valued and empowered, but also directly invested in our collective success.

At Marshall + Sterling, you’re not just joining a company — you’re joining an inclusive culture built on integrity, impact, and people-first values. Your ideas matter, your growth is prioritized, and your work helps shape a more secure future for all.

This position is hybrid and can be based out of Marshall+Sterling's Poughkeepsie or Oswego Office. This position will begin on a daytime schedule, allowing for training and learning team routines during regular business hours. This will then transition into an overnight shift.

We’re seeking a skilled IT Systems Engineer to join our team on the overnight shift, ensuring our technology runs smoothly around the clock. From managing O365 and Exchange to troubleshooting cloud desktops and monitoring cybersecurity controls, you’ll play a key role in protecting our business and supporting our employee-owners. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values problem-solving, and is motivated by making an impact when others are offline.

  • Respond to and resolve overnight technical support requests for hardware, software, phones, and core business systems.
  • Administer and manage O365 and Microsoft Exchange accounts, permissions, and distribution lists.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain virtual cloud desktops, including onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Monitor security systems (spam filters, antivirus, access controls) to prevent threats and ensure compliance.
  • Document service requests, resolutions, and project updates clearly and accurately.
  • Support IT projects, upgrades, and rollouts during off-peak hours.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate issues to ensure consistent, high-quality service.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field — or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years in IT support, systems engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Hands-on experience with O365, Exchange, and cloud desktop environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service focus.
  • Flexibility to work overnight and occasional daytime hours.

Preferred:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft 365 Fundamentals.
  • Experience with Vertafore (AMS360, ImageRight) or Salesforce.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (NYDFS, SOC 2, HIPAA).

Total Rewards Package:

Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000, based on experience, education, and work location.

Benefits: Comprehensive package including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) with match, Generous Paid Time Off (PTO), thirteen paid holidays, company-paid life insurance for you and your dependents, employee assistance fund and programs, wellness perks, and more!
