Tier 1 Field Engineer – IT Total Care (Foster City, CA)

Location: Foster City, CA (5 days a week in-office)
Status: Full-time, Hourly
Compensation: $28.85-33.65 per hour depending on experience level

About the Role

We are seeking a Tier 1 Field Engineer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who has existing MSP experience, enjoys hands-on technical work, and thrives in a client-facing environment. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, receiving consistent mentorship while owning day‑to‑day technical tasks both in the field and in our Foster City office.

This position includes travel to client sites throughout the Bay Area. A reliable vehicle is required; mileage reimbursement is provided.

What You’ll Do

As a Tier 1 Field Engineer, you will handle frontline technical support and onsite work with a focus on professionalism, ownership, and delivering high-quality results. Responsibilities include:

Workstation & User Support

• Perform computer deployments and hardware setups
• Handle workstation troubleshooting, Wi-Fi issues, and small onsite technical needs
• Configure printers and basic network-connected devices

User Administration & Cybersecurity

• Perform MFA setup, password resets, and account troubleshooting
• Install endpoint protection and ensure devices meet security requirements

Cloud Platform Support

• Complete standard M365 administration tasks (license assignment, mailbox creation, configuration)
• Perform basic Google Workspace administration tasks

Networking & Low-Risk Projects

• Conduct basic networking troubleshooting
• Complete low-risk project work such as switch replacements and access point installations

Field & Onsite Duties

• Provide onsite support to clients across the Bay Area
• Represent IT Total Care professionally during client interactions
• Collaborate closely with senior engineers, who will triage incoming tickets

Other

• Rare participation in after-hours emergencies (most handled by senior engineers)
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs for equipment handling

What We’re Looking ForExperience

• Minimum 1 year of MSP experience required
• Strong foundational IT knowledge and comfort working directly with clients

Technical Skills

• Solid Windows troubleshooting fundamentals
• Experience with workstation setups and common business software
• Familiarity with M365 and Google Workspace administration
• Basic understanding of networking (DHCP, DNS, switching, Wi-Fi)
• No certifications required

Tier 1 → Tier 2 → Tier 3 Support or Technical Engineer → Service Manager
