CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY:
Incumbents in this classification are responsible for performing user experience and user interface design work. The IT UX/UI Designer will be working with software and website development teams in an agile (Scrum) environment to design user interfaces with a rich user experience.
The IT UX/UI Designer assumes responsibility for creating a unique and elegant interaction between users and IT applications across all platforms. The IT UX/UI Designer will translate business and user requirements into design elements and user experiences that follow industry best practices and usability standards. Work is performed with limited supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Collaborates with key stakeholders to conceptualize new product interfaces and improve existing solutions.
Collects and analyzes quantitative and qualitative data related to user experiences and user interfaces and uses a data-driven approach to suggest improvements.
Creates user experience specifications, mockups, and prototypes; designs usability testing protocols and manages testing sessions at appropriate milestones during product development; and participates in the daily scrum and sprint planning.
Maintains site UI architecture, file-naming, and file-preparation conventions and procedures that provide consistency with respect to UI/UX development; and suggests and implements procedures to improve the UI/UX production workflow.
Must meet regular attendance requirements.
Must be able to maintain good interpersonal relationships with staff, co-workers, managers and citizens.
Must accomplish the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, in a timely manner.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES (if any):
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of five years’ experience in user experience (UX) design for software applications or any equivalent combination of education, experience or training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to demonstrate a portfolio of work.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of HTML 4/5, CSS 2/3, and JavaScript; user experience best practices; enveloping user interfaces for mobile devices; current and evolving web standards as they relate to user experience and user interface design; WC3 and ADA Section 508 usability standards and customer support principles; content management systems (CMSs); Adobe Creative Cloud programs, including XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects; Google Analytics.
Skill in providing customer service; mobile device/responsive design; rapid prototyping; participatory/crowd-sourced design; graphic design and communication; translating user requirements into solutions; and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Positions in this class typically require reaching, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
