Reports to: Kenworth East Branch Manager

Summary

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all Indianapolis-East dealership facilities, including showrooms, offices, restrooms, customer waiting areas, and some exterior grounds. This role plays a critical part in presenting a professional and welcoming environment for our customers and employees.

Essential Functions

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and office areas daily
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all dealership buildings
  • Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly
  • Clean windows, glass doors, and other surfaces as needed
  • Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
  • Maintain cleanliness in service and parts departments (includes light degreasing and floor cleaning)
  • Perform light exterior maintenance including sweeping walkways and removing litter from parking lots
  • Notify management of any maintenance or safety issues (e.g., leaks, damaged fixtures)
  • Follow all safety guidelines and use cleaning chemicals and equipment properly
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Other Requirements

  • Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
  • Knowledge of safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Mobility: The individual should be capable of moving around the facilities, including walking, standing, bending, and potentially climbing ladders or stairs as necessary to access different areas.
  • Vision: Good eyesight and visual acuity are important for the individual to locate and identify tools/supplies, read labels, and effectively navigate the various facilities.
  • Hearing: The individual should have good hearing to communicate with colleagues, follow instructions, and be aware of any audible warnings or signals in the facilities.
  • Manual dexterity: A high level of manual dexterity is essential for the individual to handle and manipulate parts, use tools and equipment, and accurately perform tasks
  • Lifting: Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods
  • Driving: Ability to drive to Palmer Locations for onsite visits.

Working hours: Generally 8-5 with the potential of necessary overtime or before or after regular work hours. .
