About the Role

An international IT services and solutions provider is seeking a Software Engineer with professional fluency in Japanese and English to join its Engineering Division. Your bilingual skills will be essential in bridging communication across global teams, accelerating defect resolution, and maintaining high product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reproducing bugs: Attempting to recreate the issue in a controlled environment to confirm its existence and gather additional data.
  • Prioritizing fixes: Ranking reported issues based on severity, impact, and frequency to ensure the most critical items are addressed first.
  • Assigning tasks: Determining which development or QA team is best equipped to resolve a particular bug and assigning the task to them.
  • Automating workflow: Developing scripts and tools to streamline the triage process, such as automating log parsing or issue categorization.
  • Perform initial defect investigations to differentiate between setup/environmental issues, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) vs. server-side problems, and assign tickets to the correct queue (HU, Server, Tier1, Tier2, etc.).
  • While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift 10-25 pounds if needed. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision and hearing.
  • Other duties assigned depending on various projects requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate issues at the code level.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Background in automotive infotainment systems, with exposure to embedded software development (C/C++/Linux).
  • Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, and log analysis tools.
  • Solid understanding of system architecture (software design, APIs, sequence diagrams, HTTP error codes).
  • Comfortable with Linux commands/utilities and basic Python scripting.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Fluency in Japanese and English (required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience developing and debugging real-time embedded software.
