Job Overview

Responsibilities

* Design, implement, and maintain high-volume, low-latency Java applications for mission-critical systems.
* Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code in accordance with best practices.
* Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design to deployment and support.
* Conduct software analysis, programming, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables.
* Ensure that application designs comply with project specifications and architectural standards.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
* Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and new technologies and presenting these for architectural review.
* Prepare and produce releases of software components.

Qualifications

* Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven professional experience in Java development.
* Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
* Hands-on experience with the Spring Framework (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring MVC).
* Proficiency in working with relational databases, such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, and writing efficient SQL queries.
* Experience with build automation tools like Maven or Gradle.
* Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.
* Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

* Desirable Skills:
* Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
* Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
* Knowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
* Exposure to front-end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, React, or Angular) is a plus.
* Experience working within an Agile/Scrum development environment.
