Summary
As a Jewelry QA Associate, you will ensure that all jewelry pieces meet the highest standards of craftsmanship, precision, and luxury quality. This role involves regular on‑site inspections at vendor production facilities to verify each piece against strict QA benchmarks for design accuracy, gemstone quality, and finishing excellence.
What You’ll Do
- Perform on‑site inspections at vendor factories for in‑process and final production checks.
- Inspect items for design accuracy, color consistency, plating quality, fitting, and overall finish.
- Use established QA checklists and sampling plans to evaluate bulk production quality.
- Identify and report quality issues (e.g., loose stones, poor plating, missing components, color or measurement mismatches).
- Assist in manufacturing process audits to identify potential defects and root causes.
- Record inspection data, including photos, measurements, and corrective action summaries.
- Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues before dispatch.
- Follow QA protocols and maintain inspection timelines aligned with production schedules.
Key Performance Indicators
- Timely completion of inspections per production schedule.
- Consistent adherence to QA SOPs.
- Reduction in defect rates and customer complaints.
- Efficiency in documentation and issue resolution.
What You Bring
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in quality control for fine jewelry.
- Strong knowledge of precious metals, gemstones, and diamond grading.
- Technical expertise in jewelry manufacturing methods and QA protocols.
- Exceptional attention to detail and manual dexterity for micro‑level inspections.
- Skilled in documentation, photography, and reporting for QA logs.
- Professional certification (GIA, IGI, or equivalent) preferred.
- Ability to travel regularly to vendor facilities across India and occasionally to North America for training.
REQUIRED Skills
Hard Skills
- Jewelry QA experience with finished products.
- Expertise in precious metals (gold, silver, vermeil) and a wide variety of gemstones.
- Experience in a jewelry manufacturing environment (preferred).
- QA/QC expertise.
Soft Skills
- High level of autonomy: ability to work independently across time zones.
- Strong initiative: ownership of problems and proactive process improvements.
- Comfort with ambiguity: ability to establish clarity and structure where processes are evolving.
Additional Details
- Regular travel within Mumbai to vendor sites.
- Occasional domestic travel (e.g., Jaipur, approximately once per quarter).
