Jira admin is responsible for configuring and maintaining the Jira software to meet organizational needs, which includes managing users, projects, and workflows, and ensuring the system is secure and performing efficiently. Key duties include customizing projects, managing permissions, troubleshooting issues, installing add-ons, and providing training and support to users. Key responsibilities
- User and project management: Manage user accounts, create and assign project roles, and set permissions for projects and Confluence spaces.
- Workflow and customization: Create, edit, and maintain custom workflows, issue types, fields, and schemes to optimize processes.
- System administration: Perform system upgrades, monitor performance, and ensure the overall health and security of the Jira environment.
- Integrations and add-ons: Install and manage add-ons and integrations with other tools to enhance functionality.
- Support and training: Serve as the main point of contact for Jira issues, troubleshoot problems, and conduct training sessions for end-users.
- Reporting and analysis: Create and manage dashboards and filters to provide users with insights into project progress and performance.
Essential skills and qualifications
- Proven experience as a Jira administrator.
- Expertise in Jira administration, including workflows, permissions, and schemes.
- Proficiency with JQL (Jira Query Language) for advanced searching.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with different teams.
- Familiarity with ITIL, agile, or other project management methodologies is often beneficial.
- A degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field may be required.
