Position Summary
The Job Coach provides individualized support to individuals with IDD in securing and maintaining competitive employment within the community. This role works directly on-site at the individual’s workplace to ensure job success, foster independence, and support long-term employment stability, while promoting inclusion and professional growth.
Position Scope
This position operates within the IDD Department and functions primarily in community-based employment settings. The Job Coach provides direct support services at employer worksites and in community environments.
The role focuses on skill acquisition, fading of supports, employer collaboration, and documentation compliance while promoting competitive integrated employment outcomes.
This position does not supervise staff but plays a key role in supporting participant vocational goals and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
The Job Coach is responsible for delivering high-quality supported employment services that promote independence and sustainable job placement. This role provides individualized, on-site job coaching and structured skill instruction, helping individuals learn job tasks, workplace expectations, and appropriate professional behaviors while reducing reliance on paid supports through fading plans and natural supports. The Job Coach coordinates with employers and employment teams, supports transportation and travel training when applicable, advocates for workplace accommodations, and assists individuals during interviews as assigned. Responsibilities include conducting hands-on training at worksites, breaking down tasks into manageable steps, monitoring performance, providing feedback, supporting vocational assessments and ISP employment goal updates, offering crisis support within scope of training, and participating in team meetings and professional development. The role ensures all service documentation meets ODP, regulatory, and billing standards and supports program initiatives related to employment growth and expansion.

Confidentiality
The Job Coach must maintain strict confidentiality of all participant information in accordance with HIPAA, agency policies, and state/federal regulations.
Confidential information must not be disclosed to employers or third parties without appropriate authorization.
Documentation Requirements
Complete daily service notes within required timelines
Document progress toward employment goals
Maintain accurate attendance and billing records
Submit incident reports when required
Maintain communication logs with employers and team members
Documentation must meet ODP standards and be audit-ready at all times.
Certifications
Required:
Valid Driver’s License
Clear criminal background checks (PA State Police, FBI if applicable)
Child Abuse Clearance (if required)
Preferred:
CPR/First Aid Certification
Education
Minimum:
High School Diploma or GED
Preferred:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education, Psychology, or related field
Experience
Preferred:
Experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
Experience in community-based employment or vocational services
Experience teaching or coaching skills
Technical Skills
Ability to use electronic documentation systems (e.g., C2S or similar HRIS/EHR systems)
Basic computer skills (email, Microsoft Office, data entry)
Ability to complete electronic service documentation accurately
Familiarity with assistive technology preferred
Languages
Proficiency in English required Bilingual skills are a plus depending on service area needs
Driver License
Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License required Reliable transportation required Proof of insurance required
Travel Requirement
Frequent travel within assigned service area Travel to employer worksites required Occasional travel to office for meetings or trainings Evening or weekend hours may be required based on participant employment schedules
