Job Description: Cost Controller – F&B Industry

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller with a strong background in the Food & Beverage (F&B) industry. The role is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling food and beverage costs to ensure profitability, efficiency, and compliance with company standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in recipe costing, inventory management, and operational cost optimization within food production or restaurant environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Control & Analysis
  • Monitor daily food and beverage costs across procurement, production, and service.
  • Conduct variance analysis between actual and budgeted costs.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Inventory & Procurement
  • Oversee inventory systems to ensure accurate tracking of stock, consumption, and wastage.
  • Implement controls to minimize pilferage and over-purchasing.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to negotiate supplier contracts and optimize purchasing.
  • Menu & Recipe Costing
  • Prepare detailed recipe costing sheets and menu profitability reports.
  • Support menu engineering by analyzing food cost percentages and contribution margins.
  • Advise on pricing strategies to maximize profitability while maintaining quality.
  • Reporting & Compliance
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports for management.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and local regulations.
  • Collaboration
  • Work closely with chefs, restaurant managers, and finance teams to implement cost control measures.
  • Train operational staff on cost awareness and efficient resource utilization.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Management.
  • 3–5 years of experience in cost control within the F&B or restaurant industry.
  • Strong knowledge of recipe costing, food production processes, and inventory systems.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, POS software, and advanced Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.
