The Logistics & Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the movement of goods domestically and internationally while ensuring adherence to all applicable trade laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role manages end-to-end shipment processes, monitors import/export compliance, maintains trade documentation, and collaborates with internal teams and external partners to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and compliant operations.
Logistics Coordination
- Plan, schedule, and track inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Manage relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to optimize transit times, costs, and service levels.
- Monitor shipment status, resolve delays, and communicate updates to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate shipping documentation and ensure proper freight billing and cost allocation.
Trade Compliance
- Ensure all import and export activities comply with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., U.S. Customs, EAR, ITAR, Incoterms, CTPAT, TSCA and other international trade standards).
- Review commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other customs documentation for accuracy and make any corrections needed.
- Classify goods using HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) and ECCN codes.
- Monitor changes in global trade regulations and communicate relevant updates to internal teams.
- Conduct compliance audits and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work cross functionally with Procurement, Sales, and Operations to forecast logistics needs and mitigate supply chain disruptions.
- Support development of internal training programs on trade compliance and logistics best practices.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, cost savings, and compliance.
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3–5 years of experience in logistics coordination, international shipping, or trade compliance.
- Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and global suppliers
- Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of international shipping terms, customs regulations, and trade compliance requirements.
- Proficient in shipment tracking systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
- Preferred
- Familiarity with CTPAT, EAR, ITAR, and other international trade programs.
- Experience with IFS ERP system, CBP ACE Portal
