Project Manager & Estimator
Position Overview
The Project Manager & Estimator is responsible for managing all phases of assigned projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This role also includes preparing accurate cost estimates for a wide range of fabrication, mechanical, and steel installation projects. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and customer relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
· Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors for the execution of multiple projects simultaneously.
· Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
· Assist in defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with company goals.
· Ensure resource availability and effective allocation of manpower, materials, and equipment.
· Develop detailed project plans to monitor and track progress.
· Manage changes to project scope, schedules, and costs using appropriate verification and documentation techniques.
· Measure performance using standard project management tools and methodologies.
· Report project status, challenges, and updates to management as needed.
· Manage client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact throughout project execution.
· Conduct risk management to identify, assess, and mitigate potential project risks.
· Establish and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
· Meet with clients to review project requirements and ensure alignment with expectations.
· Delegate project tasks effectively based on team members’ strengths, skills, and experience levels.
· Track project performance and analyze outcomes to ensure successful completion of both short- and long-term goals.
· Maintain budgetary control and adjust project constraints as needed based on financial performance.
· Develop and share comprehensive project documentation with clients and internal teams.
· Demonstrate and continuously develop strong leadership and organizational skills.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Estimator Responsibilities
· Prepare accurate cost estimates for a wide range of projects including sheet metal fabrication, mechanical systems, piping, and structural steel installations.
· Review and interpret blueprints, AutoCAD drawings, sketches, and technical specifications.
· Analyze labor, material, and time requirements to ensure competitive and profitable pricing.
· Support project management by ensuring alignment between estimated and actual costs.
· Conduct site visits as needed to evaluate conditions, scope, and project requirements.
· Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and field crews to develop efficient solutions and realistic project bids.
Technical Expertise
Candidates must have hands-on knowledge and experience in the following areas:
· Welding processes: TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), MIG (Gas Metal Arc Welding), and Stick (Electrode Welding).
· Metal cutting techniques: Plasma and Acetylene torch cutting.
· Sheet metal fabrication, ductwork, and piping systems.
· Structural steel fabrication, rigging, and overhead crane operations.
· Mechanical system installation and repairs.
· Renovation, plumbing, and industrial fabrication knowledge.
· Safe work practices including hot work permits, lockout/tagout, and confined space procedures.
· Ability to determine sheet metal sizes and dimensions using gauges and precision measurement tools.
Qualifications
· Proven working experience in project management and/or estimating for industrial, mechanical, or fabrication projects.
· Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
· Solid organizational skills with strong attention to detail and multitasking capability.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
· Experience reading and working from blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documentation.
· Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and during emergency breakdown situations.
· Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
