Joint Manager – Legal

Minimum Qualification

LLB from a recognized university. (Additional qualifications such LLM, or Postgraduate Diploma in IPR will be an added advantage.)

Experience
10+ years of proven experience in the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) domain, with significant exposure to:
  • Anti-counterfeit surveillance, investigation, and enforcement raids in Sub-Saharan Africa, UAE, and GCC countries.
  • Hands-on experience in IPR enforcement, infringement actions, brand protection, and litigation support.
  • Secretarial and Corporate Legal matters including Board and Regulatory compliances.
  • Prior exposure to FMCG, manufacturing, or consumer goods sectors preferred.

Primary Interactions

Internal: Marketing, Sales, Finance, Operations, Quality, Regulatory & HR
External: Distributors/Vendors, Law Firms, Enforcement Agencies, Government Authorities, Consultants, and Attorneys

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage IPR enforcement initiatives including counterfeit market surveillance and raid coordination.
  • Drive and oversee anti-counterfeit programs in Sub-Saharan Africa, China, UAE, and GCC regions.
  • Manage external legal counsel on trademark infringement and brand protection.
  • Conduct due diligence and investigations concerning counterfeit and infringing activities.
  • Draft, review, and vet legal documents and commercial agreements.
  • Advise management on international commercial and corporate legal matters.
  • Ensure full corporate secretarial compliance, including drafting agendas, resolutions, and maintaining minutes.
  • Liaise with internal business teams and overseas subsidiaries for legal and compliance support.
  • Maintain an effective legal documentation management system.
  • Support budgeting, planning, and monitoring of legal expenditures.
  • Liaise with statutory and governmental authorities for compliance.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic legal risk assessments.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of IPR laws, trademark enforcement, and anti-counterfeiting procedures.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of corporate governance and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to coordinate multi-jurisdictional enforcement actions.
