The Journey Mechanic is responsible for performing advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial equipment and machinery in a heavy industrial or plant environment. This role requires a high level of technical skill, the ability to work independently, and adherence to all safety and compliance standards.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Journeyman-level experience in industrial mechanical maintenance
- Proven experience working in refineries, chemical plants, power plants, or similar heavy industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics
- Valid driver's license (may be required depending on site)
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Time management and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Requirements:

- Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment including pumps, compressors, conveyors, turbines, valves, and rotating machinery
- Diagnose mechanical issues using tools, testing equipment, and technical manuals
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble machinery and components to manufacturer or site specifications
- Align, install, and calibrate mechanical systems and components
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Assist in equipment installation, upgrades, and shutdown/turnaround projects
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inspection reports
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific procedures
- Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance teams, and supervisors to meet production goals
