Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems across a variety of commercial, industrial, and renovation projects. Your expertise will ensure that all electrical work complies with safety standards, electrical codes such as the NEC (National Electrical Code), and project specifications. Responsibilities
- Install, wire, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems using hand tools, power tools, schematics, and blueprints.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to accurately execute electrical installations and repairs.
- Work with low voltage and high voltage systems, ensuring proper connections and safety protocols are followed.
- Use testing equipment such as ohmmeters to diagnose electrical issues and verify system performance.
- Collaborate with construction teams on renovation projects, framing carpentry tasks, and general construction activities related to electrical work.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards including NEC regulations; ensure all work adheres to local codes and safety protocols.
- Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and troubleshoot industrial electrician systems as needed.
- Perform routine inspections of electrical components on construction sites or industrial facilities; identify potential hazards or failures early.
- Assist in schematics interpretation for complex wiring projects involving commercial or industrial applications.
- Contribute to the upkeep of tools and equipment; maintain a handyman skill set for minor repairs outside core electrical tasks.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Journeyman Electrician in commercial, industrial, or renovation environments.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems including low voltage, high voltage, power distribution, and control wiring.
- Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics reading, blueprint interpretation, and troubleshooting complex electrical circuits.
- Familiarity with NEC standards and local electrical codes to ensure compliance during installation and repair work.
- Skilled in using hand tools such as wire strippers, screwdrivers, pliers; power tools including drills and saws; testing devices like ohmmeters.
- Construction site experience demonstrating ability to work safely in dynamic environments while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to read blueprints accurately and translate plans into real-world installations or repairs.
- Experience working with both low voltage (<50V) systems for control wiring and high voltage (>600V) power systems.
- Knowledge of schematics for industrial automation systems; experience with renovation projects involving framing carpentry or general construction tasks is a plus.
