Position Summary:
Vectra Mechanical is a locally owned and operated shop looking to add a Journeyman Plumber to our growing team of professionals. This position will include commercial and residential plumbing service and repair of the following systems: water heaters (tank & tankless), sewer and drain lines, water and sewer mains, fixtures, pumps, backflow prevention devices, water filtration systems, and more.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform all plumbing repairs and installations in accordance with state and local plumbing codes.
- Complete all required documentation on services and collect, record, and deliver fees to designated office administration.
- Facilitate order for all parts required for appointments and ensure preparedness for the day of service.
- Submit purchase orders to dispatch or designated purchasing team administrators.
- Transport materials and tools to the job site and provide proper accounting of assigned tools.
- Keep vehicle clean, organized, and in safe working order.
- Ensure vehicle is stocked and accurately inventoried.
- Return defective or warranty parts to the branch.
- Effectively communicate with the customer regarding questions, concerns, and recommendations.
- Facilitate rescheduling of customer appointments if work cannot be completed in the original call.
- Perform thorough plumbing inspections, including identification of Health and Safety Hazards, and communicate findings to the customer in a written option sheet.
- Accurately complete and invoice for all services performed.
- Train, coach, and mentor plumbing apprentices.
- Inform a manager or team leader of any safety issues.
- Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor with customers and associates at all times.
- Maintain a professional image by wearing company-approved uniform.
- Abide by all standards of performance and ethics.
- Participate in company-sponsored training classes.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate the benefits of Planned Maintenance Agreements.
- Manage operational metrics including average invoice total, callback ratios, and labor margins.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum of 5 years verifiable experience in plumbing.
- Knowledge of the installation, service, and repair of residential and commercial plumbing systems.
- Strong troubleshooting ability with water distribution, drain/waste/vent systems, and hydronic piping.
- Working knowledge of backflow prevention, cross-connection control, and water filtration systems a plus.
- Possess good analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Must be highly organized with strong follow-through.
- Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Must be able to use a tablet/smartphone and navigate digital work orders.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable by company’s carrier.
Education/Certification Requirements:
- Colorado Journeyman Plumber License
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in tight spaces such as crawlspaces and utility rooms.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and maneuver heavier items when necessary.
- Occasionally work from ladders or elevated platforms.
- Have good visual acuity for close, distance, and peripheral work.
Willing to work hours outside of normal schedule, including evenings and weekends if needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
