Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyman carver/sculptor to join our fine and decorative art studio. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set in various sculpting and carving techniques and will be responsible for executing a wide range of tasks in the shop and, occasionally, on the job-site (Some travel may be required). This role requires hands-on experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to high standards.
Duties
- Perform carving/sculpting tasks in stone, marble, granite, slate and, other materials.
- Execute masonry tasks including pouring footings, installing statues/monuments, operating stonecutting saws, etc.
- Operate power tools and heavy equipment safely and effectively.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to guide project execution.
- Conduct renovation tasks including restoration of existing structures.
- Utilize hand tools proficiently for various carving or sculpting activities.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects while adhering to safety standards.
- Assist as needed in other areas such as plaster casting, clay modeling, design work, letter carving, etc
- The ideal candidate will be trained and experienced in several of the areas mentioned above and ready to learn other skill sets as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fine art/decorative art/craftsmanship.
- Construction experience with a background in multiple trades including concrete work, masonry, or carpentry, is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation is a bonus.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics effectively.
- Knowledge of construction site safety protocols and practices is a bonus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise on-site.
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and collaboration.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
