Overview
Join our dynamic finance team as a Junior Accountant and play a vital role in supporting our organization’s financial health and compliance. As a Junior Accountant, you will assist with a variety of accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards while gaining valuable experience in both corporate and non-profit accounting practices. Duties
- Prepare, review, and record journal entries using accounting software such as Tally, Zoho etc., ensuring accuracy in debits & credits and adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and balance sheets to maintain precise financial records.
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities by preparing financial reports, performing account analysis, and interpreting financial statements.
- Conduct internal account reconciliations and assist with audit preparations by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Collaborate with senior team members on regulatory reporting requirements
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts to support strategic decision-making.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all transactions, ensuring compliance with securities law, Wills, partnerships, and other relevant regulations.
- Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings using appropriate financial software tools.
- Support the team in implementing technical accounting procedures related to LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) projects or other specialized programs.
Experience
- Prior experience or internship in financial accounting or bookkeeping is preferred but not required; strong willingness to learn is essential.
- Familiarity with accounting softwares
- Knowledge of double entry bookkeeping principles and accrual accounting methods is necessary for success in this role.
- Understanding of financial concepts including balance sheet reconciliation, cash flow analysis, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting will set you apart.
- Exposure to public accounting practices or regulatory reporting requirements enhances your candidacy.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, report writing, and financial modeling is required; advanced skills are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret financial reports accurately and communicate findings clearly is important for collaboration across teams.
