Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Junior Textile Designer in our NYC office’s small but mighty design team. The role involves creating innovative textile prints and embroidery designs, digitally refining artworks, incorporating client and sales team feedback into design presentations, ensuring designs align with market trends and client requirements, and preparation of designs for factory production. Additional responsibilities may include researching and developing new concepts and market trends to stay ahead, showroom organization and sample management, and occasionally attending client meetings to support the senior designers. Training for success in a fast-paced textile design team will be gladly provided for the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, or a related field
  • Proficiency with industry standard design and office programs, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Powerpoint
  • Experience digitally creating seamless repeating patterns
  • Strong eye for detail and color theory
  • Strong sense of creativity and ability to incorporate market trends into designs
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet deadlines
  • Experience in home furnishings or retail-focused product design is a plus
  • Experience in graphic design and product-oriented graphics a plus
  • A brief design test to demonstrate proficiency and potential

We welcome any applicants who may not have home textile industry experience but are confident in their design and technical skills, while being able to take feedback and specific training for the needs of a fast-paced textile design team.

Work schedule is 5 days per week with at least one weekday as work-from-home; flexibility in in-person availability is important as the schedule for being in the office each week may change to reflect client meetings and company needs. Candidates must also have equipment that enables them to work offsite (reliable Internet access and a laptop, preferably Mac OS; subscriptions to necessary software programs will be provided).

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
